IP52: February's Theme is LOVE

It's the 2nd month of IP52 and February's theme is LOVE. I headed to Newport  RI this weekend to attend the Bridal Show at Oceancliff Mansion. Here's an image I took overlooking the water @ Oceancliff. It was a bit windy that day, or you can say VERY WINDY, but I was able to take a few pix of my trip.

Let me introduce, Mr. Bailey. He is my 2nd born and his favorite past times are driving Brandy crazy and snuggling. Doesn't he look so serious in this image? This is his I'm guarding the yard stance.

Inspire Project 52 | IP52

Inspire Project 52 or IP52 is a way to motivate myself to go out into the world and take pictures. Sounds like it would be easy for me, since I am a photographer, however this is a good kick in the pants for me to use my camera for something other than hired projects. It's a way to get my creative juices flowing and inspire me to keep learning the craft I've grown to love. I'd also like to motivate my family, friends, Facebook Friends, clients, and anyone else that would like to share their photos on my facebook page. It's not about your photography ability or the type of camera you own, it's about your vision.

Here's how it works. Each month I will announce a theme and everyone can post pictures according to that idea. You can post pictures you've already taken or take new ones. The choice is yours. My challenge will be to post each week and to motivate myself to think out of the box and try new things.

IP52 January's Theme is: The Outdoors

Post your favorite pictures that you've taken outdoors.

So for this week's post I decided to head out in my backyard. There's a tree that is on its last limb and will have to be cut down this spring. I love this tree so much and so sad it has to go. 



Sandra M Photography featured in Newport Wedding Magazine 2011!



On August 2, 2009 I was honored to photograph Ashley & Jason's wedding @ Easton's Beach in Newport RI. From the ceremony on the beach, to the formals in the historic carousel, and the traditional New England Clam Bake. It was an amazing day.
A few months ago, I was asked to submit my images to Newport Wedding Magazine, for a feature in their Real Wedding Stories. I was so excited to be a part of Newport's only lifestyle magazine dedicated to anything Wedding in Newport. It also showcases couples who married in Newport and their love stories.

"A" Family Fun @ Eliz Park | October 2010

Julie & Steven's wedding went by in a flash. What an amazing day! They both were so relaxed & enjoyed every minute of it! I'm working on their images now, but here is 1 of my favs.

Mother's Day Portraits | Portuguese Club of Hartford | 5.9.10

Mother's Day came and went by quick. Instead of spending time with my mother, I was taking Mother's Day portraits at the Hartford Portuguese Club located in Newington, CT. Jennifer + Nicholas | Publick House, MA | 3.19.10

I had the honor of photographing Jennifer & Nicholas' wedding this past Friday. The ceremony and reception was held at the historical Publick House Inn located in Sturbridge, MA. It was an amazing place that had an old world feel to it. It was also a picture perfect day for a wedding, and you know this photographer loves those kind of days!!

Julie & Steve|Engagement Session|01.2010

I met with Julie & Steve at Elizabeth Park this past weekend for their engagement shoot. It was a perfect January day and we had fun exploring different parts of the Park. I'm starting to go through all of the images I took from the day and so far this one is my favorite.

Erin + Garvin | Chicopee, MA | 10.17.2009

Happy New Year!!
Boy the end of the year just went by in a flash! I wanted to share with you
Erin & Garvin's Wedding from October. It was a great day and Erin & Garvin and their whole bridal party were so much fun to be around. Their DJ kept the guests entertained the whole night with fun surprises. Congrats to the both of you!!

Anna & Nuno | Simsbury Farms | 9.5.2009

Anna & Nuno's wedding was amazing. From the perfect weather, to the fun tee times we had @ Simsbury Farms. The reception was held under a beautiful white tent in the middle of a golf course. There was great family, friends, and food!! Congrats Anna & Nuno!!

Ashley & Jason | Newport, RI | 08.2.09

I had the pleasure of traveling to Newport, RI, to photograph Ashley & Jason's wedding. My husband and I have vacationed there many times, and I have always envisioned Newport as a perfect place to get married. The romantic ceremony took place right on Easton's Beach. Afterwards, The fun continued as we took pictures on the carousel and enjoyed a wonderful seafood buffet.

BUSY SUMMER!!

It's been so long since my last post, I'm not sure where to start. I've been very busy this wedding season, but I'm enjoying every minute of it!!

I had a great time @ Joana & Julian's wedding @ the Mill on the River. The ceremony started dry, but ended with a T-storm. It was OK though, because we had shelter to finish out the beautiful ceremony. I had a great time sharing this day with the both of you. Good Luck in Texas!!

Congratulations Cristina!!

Today my sister Cristina graduated from the UConn School of Business. It seems like yesterday that my family helped her move into her dorm freshman year. But 4 years later she's finally done and ready for her next chapter. I'm so happy and proud of her.
To quote the great and very tan, Mr. George "Jim" Hamilton:
Welcome to the real world, Cristina, we've been waiting for you."

It's a bit windy!

SWAT GIRL

A few weeks ago my sister Cristina and I had the pleasure of volunteering our photography services to the W. Htfd Police SWAT team. They were contacting a "Night Stalker Shoot" with area SWAT teams. This training was unique because it was held in complete darkness. There were 2 training sites with different types of rifles, one for close range and one with sniper rifles. The officers use a special night vision lens with IR to shoot these guns in the dark. I wasn't allowed to use my flash (oh what is a girl to do??!!) So with the night vision attached to my camera lens I was able to see what the officers could see in the dark and capture the lasers aiming at the targets. We were also lucky enough to give the rifles a test run. Wedding Photographer by day and SWAT Girl by night. I like the sound of that!!

Erin & Garvin Engagement

Yesterday, I met with Erin & Garvin @ Stanley Park in MA. for their Engagement Session. It was my second time at Stanley Park this year and it was wonderful discovering its beauty once again.
